Just a moment with Jessie
“What I’m most proud of?” That I’ve started studying again. I studied Architecture and Construction Engineering here last year, but the level of maths was too high for me with my background in senior secondary vocational education. So, I stopped for six months to have tutoring in maths and physics. I feel ready for it now. I have just done my first maths exam and it went a lot better than last year. My mentor has been a great support. We had regular chats and she encouraged me not to give up. I have my senior secondary vocational education diploma so could have stopped, but she showed me there was added value in gaining more engineering knowledge. I really want to learn a lot more. If I pass my maths exam with flying colours, she’ll be the first one I call.”

JUST A MOMENT
In this rubric every two weeks a colleague or student of THUAS gives readers a little peek into their lives. Inspired by ‘Humans of New York’. On this Facebook page photographer Brandon Stanton made a world city as New York more personal by capturing spontaneous encounters with residents in word or on film. This series of interviews partially brings stories of our students and staff to light.
